To get started in affiliate marketing, first of all, we need to create a website. To create a website, we have to do 2 things:

1. Get a domain name

A domain name is a web address that allows online visitors to find us in cyberspace. Just as in the physical world, we need a house / address of the office for visitors to locate us.

First, we need to think of a suitable domain name that we like and that is relevant to our business.

So, we need to check that our domain name chosen was not taken by someone else. We can do a search on an online facility that allows us to buy a domain name. If our research tells us our domain name chosen was not taken by someone else, we can then proceed to purchase this domain name and register it online at the same establishment that we buy our domain name. Conversely, if our research tells us our domain name chosen was taken from someone else, we should think of another domain name and do a search on this new domain name until you come to one that is not occupied by someone else. Once you have successfully chosen, purchased and registered a domain name, our next step is to choose a web host.

2. Choose a Web Host

A web host is an online facility that houses our web site under our domain name.

After doing these 2 things (got a domain name and choosing our web host), we create our own website, which includes the filling of our web site with content. If you are not familiar with HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language), we can use the WYSIWYG (What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get) program to set up our website. Many web hosts provide such a program. So, we are ready to register ourselves as an affiliate marketer with some organizations having links with companies / individuals who offer opportunities for affiliates to sell their products or services, with a one-time fee or recurring revenues given in exchange to affiliates that generate sales or leads.
