Schools for Air Traffic Controllers

With technological advances in aviation, planes and many new services are launched almost every day. The cost of air travel has greatly reduced, and more and more people travel by plane. All these factors have lead to very heavy traffic at major airports. This is when the importance and the need for air traffic control comes into picture.

Air traffic controllers are the professionals who direct the traffic of private, public, passenger, commercial aircraft and transportation in and around the airport. These professionals use advanced technology such as radar and radio communication, for efficient traffic management. Many schools offer vocational courses for air traffic controllers, who teach them how to read flight plans, tools, traffic and weather conditions. They are also given hands on experience at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) flight control center during training.

These schools offer certificate programs, associate programs of two years and bachelor degree programs that prepare these students thoroughly in the background as well as working. The course curriculum of the air traffic control teaches students everything about airway system, FAA rules, aircraft performance, and related skills. Students are taught the use of radar control facilities including various means of electronic communication and navigation computer.

A lot of periodic audits and assessments are conducted during the course to check the student's level of understanding and progress. Students are required to display a capacity for rapid solution of complex problems that may arise at any time in the airports sector. It 's also essential for them to see different methods of implementing the procedures of the FAA and other air traffic rules in different situations for efficient traffic management.

The FAA provides almost four or five months of intense training in air traffic control, to his academy only to those students who meet the stringent requirements for admission. After this training, students are sent for several months, the experience of successful on-the-job training to increase their knowledge. This is considered mandatory for employment as an air traffic controller .......
