If you're getting spam e-mail that could have a security problem

Why am I receiving Spam E-Mail?

You know what I'm talking about those annoying emails you get from people who have never heard of, trying to sell you stuff you do not need. If everybody hates spam, because we understand? Well, not everyone hates spam is the fact that many people buy things they see in the e-mail spam.

Spamming is illegal, and authorities are getting better at catching spammers. Many times, spamming is done by professional criminal organizations. Spam is big business, and generates millions of dollars each year. In order to circumvent the authorities, spammers will rent their botnets to spam for them.

Are you a zombie network? A network is simply a network of zombie computers that were hijacked and all can be controlled remotely. If you are on a network of zombie computers can be used against you in order to infect other friends, family or clients on your mailing list. A spammer can use this network to send all email spam for them, so that authorities can not trace the true source of spam. And 'how to use someone else to do the dirty work. The spammer will clean away, and the owner of the machine can actually be held responsible for what is done with their computer.

There have been cases where innocent people were sentenced for having child pornography hidden on your computer without even knowing it! Porn, like spam, is big business, and networks of zombies that can easily be used to hide the pornographic images because it can be used to send spam emails.

Spam messages can also be a symptom of a much larger problem. If you have spyware or other malware on your computer, the spammer can actually look over your Web surfing habits, and can address spam, based on such information. Privacy is a big problem, and if you are using a lower source of Internet security, your spam may well be a sign of a much larger problem.

Obviously, there is a lot of dangers involved in using the Internet. However, it should not be so. We live in an age of uncertainty. If you are completely protected from all forms of identity theft, hacking, viruses, spyware and phishing just makes life easier. More importantly, you can breathe easier knowing that you're protected. Do not let hackers ruin your good name and cause damage to undo it ....
