Set your MySpace profile to Private in 5 seconds or less

There are lots of reasons for wanting to have your MySpace profile set to private. Some are more important than others, but all are valid reasons. The number one reason most people consider their private profile set is due to just that - will be private!

When you consider how many millions of people are members of MySpace, and have the potential to look at your profile, it can make you stop and think, because there is a lot of personal information included in the normal MySpace profile! You will always have a few naysayers who refuse to make their profile private. Or are they proud of their profile and how it looks, or are proud and want the world to see their photos, perhaps a poem or two have written, and how many people are on their friends list. You get the idea! They never stop to think that a computer stalker could take that information and really do some major damage with it.

Just think - not just your name, maybe your full name, plus the names of one of your family would be right there for the MySpace world to look at if you have your profile set to private. All photos are exposed for who accesses your profile to see. And as for those invectives and raves you may have left in your MySpace blog? It might be a kind of embarrassing if say, your boss just happened to surf the web and came across your profile on MySpace.

And do not say that your boss would never do such a thing! It is becoming common for those who occupy positions of authority at work and school to monitor people who are on the payroll, or enrolled in their school, to see what to do with themselves when they are away from work or class. You can not call an invasion of his privacy, because you have all this information into the open for everyone to examine and reflect - and possibly act accordingly. No one wants their boss, or their college professor, or anyone for that matter to be able to examine closely their information - especially those rather intimate details that you just may have posted about you and your partner!

By setting your MySpace profile to private, you should not worry those who do not know looking at your profile, and not worry so much about what kind of personal information you write on your blog or any other section of your profile, such as the section "About Me". Are you ready to make your profile private? Here's how!

Log into your MySpace account. Then, go to "Account Settings". See where it says "Privacy Settings"? Vai on "Edit Settings". If you scroll down, you will see a box that says: "Who can view my complete profile". Vai here, and you will be able to choose between three options. They are "My Friends Only", "Public" or "Only for users under 18."

Choose "My Friends Only", then scroll down the page and select "Edit settings". Your profile is private! Note that if you are 14 or 15 years of age, the profile is automatically set to private. If you try to change your age to look older so that the profile is public, I just hope they are not reported to MySpace! If you do, that will pull your page, and all your hard work on your profile will be lost. Better be safe than sorry! ......
